Alison McGovern MP Visit to Supported Housing Scheme
The first ever National Housing Federation Supported Housing Week has taken place this week. The purpose was to raise awareness of life-changing supported housing services, highlight growing funding challenges and call on decisionmakers to secure a sustainable future for the sector.
To celebrate the week Wirral Methodist Housing Association staff (with tea and cake!) visited several of our supported housing schemes to talk with tenants, their families and care staff. We were delighted that our local MP Alison McGovern was able to join us for our final visit on Friday 23 October 2026. We visited Claughton Road, a purpose-built supported housing scheme that has been owned and managed by WMHA since it was built in 2013. The scheme is designed for people with learning disabilities, complex needs and neurodiverse conditions. Care and support here is delivered by Options for Supported Living, who have been working alongside WMHA since the property first opened. Residents receive 24-hour, seven-day-a-week, one-to-one support, tailored to their individual needs. This includes support with daily living, maintaining routines, attending appointments, accessing the local community, developing life skills and making informed decisions.
